Tell about yourself and your background! *
I was a landscaper for 12 years, a youth pastor for 6 years and a youth advocate for 2 years.
What inspired you to become a stunt performer?
I always loved movies. And as a kid I would jump off the playground and pretend to fight armies of thousands while being the only one on the front lines. So stunts was always in the back of my mind but since I’m from Pennsylvania it didn’t seem like a realistic thing to pursue. But one day a friend of mine said why don’t you at least google something about stunts.
What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a stunt behind it?
I would have to say that Would be my ability to listen and process things. It helps me to pick things up quickly. I know it’s not what people would think would be a stunt skill but it has helped me so much with taking notes that people give me and applying it to a stunt. It has also made me grow and progress quickly and efficiently.
What is the best part about being a stunt performer?
Every day I get to do a stunt I am doing what I once thought was out of my reach. What the younger me would have went “wow, I want to do that!” I’m living the dream. It’s a new challenge every day and with that comes with new growth and maturity that I wouldn’t have gotten if I would have stayed where I was. Stunts is more than just a job to me. It’s the force that is making me grow where I once was stagnant.
Tell your all-time favorite stunt story!
This story isn’t super impressive I’m still new to stunts. But it’s one that I enjoy. To give you some background my main thing is Parkour and wrecks but I have been training parkour the longest. But I weigh 230Ibs. So I was at a stunt intensive course in Seattle and it came to the parkour day. We were working on vaults. And I’m there and it’s on a spring floor and the things we were vaulting over where about 6 or 7 ft apart. And so to show off I run at it and do a front flip and clear both vault boxes. Afterwards people came up to me and were like “how is such a big guy so agile?” It’s a lame story I know but it makes me smile a little bit when I look back at it haha.
What advice would you give other stunt performers?
Listen more than you speak, and do what scares you. One allows you to learn the other will push you to grow.
Anything else you'd like to tell the community about?
I love all you stunt people. I’m still new to this but every time I meet another stunt person they are always super nice and down to earth. I love this community and I can’t wait to be working with you guys soon.
