Tell about yourself and your background! *
I'm from San Diego, California. I was captain of the swim team back in college, graduated in 2019 in theatre/performing arts, and I'm currently serving the country at the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a Lance Corporal. I knew all of this would help prepare me for the stunt world.
What inspired you to become a stunt performer?
Back in 2016, I went to Universal Studios Hollywood where I saw the WaterWorld live stunt show and absolutely fell in love with it.
What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a stunt behind it?
My greatest skill would definitely be fight choreography, which I have used in combat scenes in the films, “Taking Care of Business” (not the 1990s film) as well as others that have yet to be released. One of the many aspects of why I joined the Marines is weapon safety. My drill instructors drilled my platoon and I about weapon safety and how seriously they take protocol.
What is the best part about being a stunt performer?
The best part about being a stunt performer is that other stunt performers really help you get involved in a film project. It can be a small stunt, big stunt, etc. The point is everyone in the stunt world helps each other out and sees what skills need to be improved.
Tell your all-time favorite stunt story!
My favorite stunt story is when I came onto a set for a fight scene. After each take, the other stunt performers and I ended up dancing on set. It was a wonderful day full of great vibes and positive energy, and it brought me back to the days with my college swimming team when we would dance before the swim meet starts when competing against other colleges.
What advice would you give other stunt performers?
Never stop doing what you love and keep moving forward, even if it means being a background actor in a huge production with little to no screen time and no stunts. As long as you surround yourself in an environment where there's a producer, director and a camera, trust me, you're in the right place. Most importantly, never stop learning!
Anything else you'd like to tell the community about?
Always be ready to learn new skills because you'll never know what your body is capable of, especially if you're doing physically demanding stunts such as parkour, roles, flips, etc.
