Tell about yourself and your background! *
I’ve always been an athletic person, I grew up as a dancer and gymnast. I moved out to LA for college, but I didn’t get my degree in any kind of performance or anything. Once I graduated I went back to performing. I started as a dancer, but as time went on I wanted to expand my opportunities, so I decided to start training stunts, aerial and acting.
What inspired you to become a stunt performer?
I actually never even thought about becoming a stunt performer in my younger years, I just sort of stumbled into it because I was looking for work. I wanted to find a job where I would still be able to use my athleticism, and I happen to fit the role for the live stunt show at Knott’s Berry Farm. Once I started working with other stunt performers, I thought it was really cool and wanted to be a part of the action!
What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a stunt behind it?
I am still very much a newbie, and have so much to learn, but I think my background in dance has taught me hard work and dedication, as well as the ability to learn choreography quickly and to know my body very well.
What is the best part about being a stunt performer?
It's really fun! I am constantly being introduced and inspired to learn new skills. It keeps me motivated to train, workout and try new things.
What advice would you give other stunt performers?
Like I said before, I am still very much a newbie, but I feel like training is key. I think many people are afraid to try to learn new skills, in fear that they might be bad, or look silly, but the only way to get better is to keep trying, and keep training. Everyone is a beginner at some point, and the only way to improve is to keep at it!
