Tell about yourself and your background! *
I grew up in a small town in North Carolina with a action sports background. BMX, skateboarding and motocross was my life. Then I started doing more circus style hobbies like slacklines, stilt walking and unicycles. Finally found parkour and went out to LA to stay with some of the Tempest Free running guys and competed in 3 seasons of American Ninja Warrior. They helped answer a bunch of questions and I found my way into stunt work.
What inspired you to become a stunt performer?
I loved Dukes of Hazzard and Smokey and the Bandit. The action of those shows always pulled me in.
What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a stunt behind it?
Growing up with a action sport background you really learn how to fall and not be scared to hit the ground. That and air awareness has carried me a long way in my career.
What is the best part about being a stunt performer?
Growing up you want to be all these different jobs, we get play all the different jobs on TV. Also there isn’t a greater feeling than turning off your nerves as they are counting down to action and fully focusing on the stunt in front of you.
Tell your all-time favorite stunt story!
One of my most favorite days on set was on the last season of TWD World Beyond where I got in a giant zorb ball and went down a massive hill mowing down my friends. I don’t know if I have ever smiled so much.
What advice would you give other stunt performers?
I’ll give the same advice I got my first day on set by Hugh OBrien, you have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. Use it as such.
Anything else you'd like to tell the community about?
We play dress up and fall down with our friends. Don’t let this industry ever beat you down to where you forget that. We really do live a dream job. Enjoy all those moments.
