Tell about yourself and story, Jorge!

Thanks for your time stunt peeps, my name is Jorge Pereyra, and I’m an LA local Stuntman.  I was born and raised in Sylmar, CA.  I’ve been doing stunts for about 5 years.  A few of my main talents of mine are motorcycles, horseback riding, wire work, creature work, high falls, and stunt camera work.

Lately I’ve been training with Geo Corvera, Chris Yung, and Malachi Mutakabbir.  I’ve worked last on Penny Dreadful with Mark Norby.

I truly appreciate everyone taking the time to view my information.  I hope to work beside everyone on set one day!

What inspired you to become a stunt person?

Watching movies, TV shows, and lots of comic books.

What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a story behind it?

Ever since I was a kid I was fascinated in riding motorcycles, high falls, martial arts, creature work, wire work, and stilt walking.

Tell your all-time personal favorite stunt story!

My all-time favorite stunt story would have to be the first stunt I ever did for a show.   The show was called “The Last Ship” - Stunt Coordinator was Keith Woulard.

I had to fall out of a window after I got shot at and land on the table then on the floor in front of the camera.  After doing the first take, the director yells cut and says moving on.  I felt proud of myself because it only took one take for me to make it look ugly, which in our department means great.

‍What is the best part about being a stunt performer?

The best part is that the action never gets old and you're creating the magic for the audience to capture.

What advice would you give other stunt people?

Now first and foremost, this may be common sense but you’ll be surprised how many people don’t follow instructions about always keeping quiet unless spoken to or if you have some dialogue to say in the scene - other than that, don’t talk on set.

The cameras they use can pick up any noise.  Always do your job and never make the person that hired you look bad, if not they’ll never hire you again.  Always show up before your call time, never right on the mark, you don’t wanna make anyone wait for your arrival if you're late.

Make sure you stretch on your own time before walking on set and be fully padded down with gear.  If you stay ready you’ll never have to get ready.  Always eat light on the day because you never know what you're going to be doing.

Make sure to be polite to others even if they are background.  Always check in with the stunt coordinator unless they are busy on set then wait for them to give you instructions.  Have fun becoming a badass and always have a smile on your face even after a 16 hr shift.

Make sure stunts is truly what you want before you waste your time finding out, make friends and never stop training hard.  Be humble.

Anything else you would like to tell the community about?

When I was a kid, I’d watch a movie to study the way the action was made, basically like I was doing my homework after actual homework - ha!
