Tell about yourself and your background! *
I have been in the movie industry since the age of 9. I have been immersed in the artistic and athletic world , through a decade of dancing disciplines, including classical and jazz ballet, as well as theatre training. I alternate work between tv commercials , music videos, modelling and acting in tv series and films. My first job as a Stunt Performer was in 1999 On the Adventures of Pluto Nash. Alan Oliney was the stunt Coordinator and I was then doubling Rosario Dawson. After that I pursued stunts more seriously and acquired more skill through hard training. A few years into the business I ended up doubling actress's like Halle Berry, Zoe Saldana, Dania Ramirez, Paula Patton, Danay Garcia, Rihanna... I now work around the world, Canada , USA, Europe...and I have more recently started fulfilling the position of Assistant Stunt Coordinator and Stunt coordinator and producing Short Films.
What inspired you to become a stunt performer?
I was inspired to become a stunt woman after watching the tv show "Bionic Woman"! I was 5 years old, and I wanted to be just like Jaime Sommers and be able to jump up and down buildings.
What is your greatest skill as a stunt performer, is there a stunt behind it?
I think versatility and being a fast learner is one of my greatest skills. Fights, driving, ground pounding, horse back ridding, motorcycles and wires, that has been the majority of my stunt work.
What is the best part about being a stunt performer?
The best part about being a stunt performer is the challenge to do, and learn new things and perform in unusual set ups and circumstances. Traveling the world and working as a team is definitely an aspect that I love. It never gets boring!
Tell your all-time favorite stunt story!
I have so many, but some of them are stories that I can not necessarily share in public, but this one sticks out in my head all the time. And it's one I can share. One time I almost missed on a job doubling Halle Berry. I was in Romania at the time working on a project for a few months. And at the time I had a very insecure butcher who thought that because I had not been into his shop for several weeks, that he had lost me as a customer. He was calling me every where I was in the world asking when I was coming back to town to buy meat from him. It didn't matter where I was, I could be on the other side of the world in a different time zone and he was calling waking me up at impossible hours, so I started not answering the phone or sometimes picking up and hanging up right away when the phone was ringing at 4am. Especially in Europe, his number never came up, so I didn't know it was him or not. So one night while I was Romania , it was 4 am and my cell phone rang, waking me up ..at that point I am grumpy and swearing thinking its the Butcher again so I do my trick again pick up and hang up ... and it ring again, so I say to myself, "Jeez he is Fu...ing Persistant!" So I pressed go to voice mail and went back to sleep. Next morning I got up and saw I got a voice mail . I'm like, " Hmm he left a message? He never leaves a message! Since when? Ok so, So I was curious, I go into my voice mail and listen the message thinking it was the butcher to realize at that point that it was a Stunt Coordinator calling for a Job in New Orleans to double Halle Berry. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I RETURNED THE PHONE CALL ASAP!!!I apologized profusely to the Stunt Coordinator, and explain the situation and that it was my butchers fault that I never picked up his call!
What advice would you give other stunt performers?
If I had advice to give, it would be, don't forget to have fun at what you do and, keep learning new skills. And "NEVER LIE" about your skills! Be honest or you'll get yourself or someone else hurt. And the Stunt Coordinator will appreciate your honesty.
